Unless it can be compared to the Watergate Scandal, anything with the gate suffix probably deserves less attention than it gets. People being sexist online? Hype up the importance to Watergate levels by tacking on the gate suffix. Former President is exposed to have known about torture and general crimes against humanity in his personal off-shore gulag? WHO CARES? THERE'S A FOOTBALL WITH LESS AIR THAN THE LEAGUE STANDARD!
To me, the gate suffix is an issue of ethics in journalism in of itself.
Ranting aside, sexism/misogyny is bad and should be taken seriously, even in journalism and the gaming community.
