Sory, I don't play handheld games, so it slips my mind that they even exist at times. But I personally don't think they should be lumped together with console games, they have completely different scale and expectations.

But if it makes you happy then I guess you can apply that logic to 3DS which is selling very well cause Nintendo had a lot of good games on DS, while VITA is tanking cause Sony didn't support PSP well enough.

But usually I only talk about console gaming here cause that's all I play barring the occasional bathesda game that I play on PC with mods. I don't play any handheld or mobile games and don't follow that market, and it certainly doesn't belong in the same conversation. So I can see how Nintendo might be great for someone who likes mobile gaming, but for a console gamer they might as well not exist.

NP, wasnt trying to start anything. I was basically saying Nintendo Teams are basically split 50/50, you can say maybe more toward handheld. I think Sony was like 60/40 or 70/30 last gen for HC/HH output of games (correct me if im wrong).

Like thid generation though 3ds has had 4 years, it has a couple 90+ games on metacritic (excluding ports/remasters/remakes). I think 1st party wise wiiu has 3 games over 90.

Yeah that's another reason why i think Console and Handheld games shouldn't be lumped together, cause not only are the expectations different in terms of scale and graphics, etc, the generations don't run parallel to consoles either. And reviewers do change their criteria of review scores through the generations.

For example last gen performance issues like FPS and screen tearing or glitches weren't as big a part of review scores as they've become with this generation. Last gen a buggy almost unplayable on the PS3 game like Skyrim was able to get a 92 metacritic, while this gen LBP3 which is no worse than the previous 2 LBP games (both with 90+ metacritic), was bogged down by some glitches and has a metacritic of 79. This is clearly a result of expectations not being met rather than the content of the game itself.

Pushmo might be a 90 metacritic game, but on a console it could only be compared to a Indie game like Flower and Journey, and not Uncharted or Halo. Even though all have 90+ scores, they can't be talked about in the same conversation.
