I was one of the ones who thought it would, but I also didn't believe that the price of the PS3 will still retail north of $200 for a standard, harddrive model. If the system followed a progressive PS2 pricing model, the possibility would still be on the table.

It just might be the case that they can't price reduce to the extent possible by PS2 and  considering PS4's strong position they probably feel the  need to reduce PS3's price point has lessened even more.
