PS4 should do it fairly easily.

yup, same way ps4 outsold wii first year... it's not going to be a particularly long generation (wii suffered in the last two years, but did exceptionally well for the first 4) and tbh i don't think a dedicated console will ever do wii numbers again, let alone ps2 numbers.

Wii was selling fster then ps2 look how it is now.

And this gen will be as long as the last one and could even be longer

I'm not sure about this generation. Both the Ps4 and Xbox 1 already seem underpowered in their first year and a half... Sony will certainly want it to last given their current dominance and the state of the company (I doubt they want to absorb launch losses again anytime soon), but if Microsoft doesn't close the gap more they might be less inclined to ride it out for the better part of a decade.

There's also still that possibility that one or neither will bother with a true console next gen, but who knows? All I'm certain of is that Nintendo will make another appearance.

It was always like that each generation console become underpowered  against pc it was never a problem.

3rd party will make pressure look at how many games are multiplatform they just not ready for next gen

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m
