The forum description is clear, and i even posted it here for you.
And it is not "sony's baby" it is the Blu Ray Disk Associations Baby, Sony is a small part of that

The association is SUPPORT for blu-ray. Sony CREATED it (at least the vast majority of it). That's what "Sony's baby" means.
