86 is mediocre?
Look, it is still one of the best pay2play MMORPG to date. Anyone in the MMO community will tell you that. Now do yourself a favor and quit pulling at straws. Admit you're wrong because I can play this game with you all day. You're not doing yourself any favors if you continue.

Not that I want to get into this discussion, but I just want to say the 83% on the PC version is probably more accurate than the 86% on the PS4. It is only in that context that the game will be truly compared with other MMORPG's as the PS4 doesn't really have much in the genre and just being a succesful above-average MMORPG on the PS3/PS4 is enough to inflate its score.
From what I've seen among MMORPG communites (which I frequently participate in) the game is considered above-average and good for people who want a solid PvE experience throughout the whole game (end-game still needs more content, according to these people.) People have mentioned that the PvP doesn't really reward people however and there really is no reason to do it other than for its own sake. The economy is also not as detailed or interactivve as other MMORPG's. Basially if you are looking for a great PvE experience then it is the game for you. If you're looking for a game where the main-focus is somethng else, then look elsewhere.
I just want to say that unlike single player games, there isn't really an easy way to compare a single MMORPG with others, as they can target very different audiences and have different strengths. All of the reviews I've read seem to take this into consideration and ONLY review the game on its general merits (graphics, leveling, controls) rather than give an accurate description of which types of players will like the game, but telling WHO will like the game is crucial for any MMORPG review.

Consider this. The reviews you're reading is mostly just about the main storyline, but every 3 months FFXIV adds new content in patches thus continuing the storyline and endgame content. Other MMOs would call that expansions every other year. Why don't you play the 14 day free trial?

No I'm talking about user feedback (like I said - the reviews give no good information) at this current time period. All MMORPG's get constant expansions and updates, that is assumed. I was tempted with the 14 day free trial, but didn't want to spend time on a character I would have to discard later on, and from my experience - MMORPG's don't get better until you spend at least a good few weeks on your character anyway (then you have a good idea of what end-game will be like.) I know I'll probably like the game, just because I'm a FInal Fantasy fan and because I like the battle mechanics and what I read about the beautiful overworld and easy leveling system. I am also a big open world PvP fan and I know this game wasn't designed for that, but I like PvE enough that I could forego that (not a fan of battlegrounds, they are too "artifical" in my opinion.) Mostly I'm staying away though because I don't have much time for an MMORPG right now and if I play a subscription MMORPG I feel almost obligated to constantly play it (or cancel my subscription.) I was thinking of trying it out just to see how good the game looks and plays on my PC.
