An example of this is Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I watched like a 10 min intro to the game, and although it was super interesting, I finally was able to play, but then It wasn't more than 10 sec when I just walked up to Megan and pressed A, then you just go into another 7 min cutscene. Bayonetta 1 was similiar too. I've played and watched a little bit of the Last of Us and they seem to follow the same formula.

With Japanese Games I prefer playing through the majority of the game. Cinematics are cool, but I feel their should be more GAMEPLAY in a game than Cinematics.

I will say this, I never played any Western RPGs, so I don't know if it's the same formula.

Do you truly believe that western games have more cinematics than gameplay? Story is a big part of Deus Ex and The Last ogf Us  so it only makes sense that the first few minutes are spent on exposition, would you rather be thrown into the action wihout a clue of whats going on? Furthermore, you could always skip them if you wish. I recently played through Ground Zeroes and despite it having a lot of interesting cinematics the vast majority of my time was spent playing.

I used to prefer Japanese games when I played exclusively on consoles. Getting into PC gaming changed all that and I only stick with a few Japanese franchises now.

Well most Japanese games know how to get you involved while learning how to play the game (A superb example of this is Super Metroid and Castlevania: SOTN). Also I rather read in gaming than watch movies (hence why I love Fire Emblem and Pokémon so much).

MGS has always had cutscenes but they tend to get you invovled in them. Also remember that MGS 5 is made by Hideo Kojima and Konami (Japanese developer). Hence why their was more gameplay than movies.

I also finished Bayonetta 1 and it was the same. I don't wish to skip them because I want to be involved in the story, but my beef is that they are way too long.

An example of a western company not like this however is Blizzard. Warcraft and Starcraft had about 2-7 minute cutscenes at most followed by HOURS of gameplay in their stages (this is why they are my favorite Western Developer). Hope that Activision doesn't influence them too much.
