This isn't correct at all. There is no monthly or anual subscription. Once you own it you will get updates for life. You can pay a service fee (or whatever they are calling it) to get smaller, more regular updates instead of waiting for all of the updates to be released in a service pack. That is optional though, and eventually you will still get all of the updates in a released service pack.

So in other words if you don't pay the subscription you run an OS with all kinds of security vulnerabilities that will get patched maybe 4 times durring the life cycle of the product ... now I'm for sure not getting it.
