IMO graphics artists should be given credit for the impressive work they are doing. Modern Zelda games are also good examples of games offering good graphics. I think the main reason for this thread is the XBox 360 and PS3 offer by far more artistic freedom to development teams, a fact Nintendo fans may dislike. Everything in terms of graphics created on the Wii can technically be reproduced on the higher specced systems, only there an option for games developers to go beyond the technical boundaries the Nintendo Wii allows
No, as he already stated, the reason for this thread is to see if your first and past experiences in gaming affect your view about how important graphic is. The age factor is added because you can imagine that the younger people will most likely have their first game played with better graphic than people older than them. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's what it is.

As for me, I think even for a great game, a certain quality to the graphic is required. It maybe just me but I can't stand playing some NES games even though back then they were very popular. (FF1) To a certain extent, graphic does add gameplay but only to a certain extent. (I believe the sentences in this paragraph have been repeated a lot of time already but what ever). Well, actually, this is kind of off topic.

As for the age matter, I can't really agree or disagree. Yes, I do think it does do something but in another way, I also think it depends on one's expectation. (Mine is low so graphic from SNES generation is enough for me to be happy, with great gameplay though) I'm not going to deny the fact that I prefer better graphic however, and it's one of the most important things in choosing the game. (You look at the cover first afterall)
