Not to show my age, but PS1 era games only cost $50 brand new when the dollar was arguably worth more and production costs were just as high, relatively, as they are today. I also like how Nintendo is releasing 'budget' titles, but I never did understand why with PS2 and PS3 era games the price suddenly jumped to $60 and stayed there.
