Because as of right now Windows 10 has no market share. And Win 7 - 8.1 has about 70%. Those people are able to upgrade.

My question was not pertaining to W10, but against Linux, Mac, Android...as the OP said.

Even if all W7 and W8 users upgrade for free, Windows marketshare will still remain the same...


Because of the return of consumer interst in Windows 10. With a familiar UI returning, and the start menu back, consumer interest would spike. In turn more pc sales (windows).
