That is a very well thought out idea. Not only that but 3rd parties need to be able to develop games on NIntendo consoles at the same level that they develop on other consoles. Nintendo's IP and 3rd party IP together is hard to beat. That's why NES-SNES ruled the world at the time. 3rd and 1st parties developed games at the same level on the NES-SNES. The 64 went over their heads, Gamecube had lost crucial exclusives due to the disc size (FFX and Dragon Quest were planned on Gamecube first) on Wii, they barely made a dent because it was Nintendo's game last gen, and now they need to refocus their efforts to be able to please themselves and fans.

Which would mean, that they'd have to have a similar platform to Microsoft's and Sony's, or at least make it very easy and cheap to port games over.
Less cost for the 3rd parties, the more likely it is for them to put their games out on that console. 3rd parties mainly look at the money anyways, and I'd love to have a repeat of the SNES era. (I want a new Secret of Mana thats as good as Secret of Mana ;) )

Exactly. I know NIntendo has a certain style of developing games but I wish they'd keep up with technology. They use to lead the field entirely. From NES-N64 they had the most universally powerful consoles. After that, power didn't become a focus for them. Which I understand, power isn't everthing but it doesn't hurt at all. I'm still waiting for a decent Mana game too. The SNES one, the first one is still my favorite from the series.
