It's not massive at all though. In the US it has about 37.1% marketshare compared to 39.4% for the 360. Globally it has 28.6% compared to the 360's 31.3%

Yeah, it's dropped. But 2-3% is hardly a massive drop.


You're counting the Wii, which is effectively a separate market except for perhaps a few percentage points. The only thing that matters to MS, other than profitability, is marketshare versus PlayStation. Nintendo are largely a non-factor in this rivalry.

 

This is why we have to consider our data qualitatively in social science, lest we do misleading things like ignore the Wii to Wii U plummet.
