Well that's great. I think the root of all these problems is that $60 price point. Its like the industry didn't realize that games being priced at $60 simply meant that they had priced themselves out of the impulse buy category for people. When people are spending $60 a game, experimentation goes right outta the window and more boxes has to be checked to warrant a buy. Which means extremely high development budgets.
