If I went up to a random person in the middle of the street, and showed them achievements/gamerscore, then showed them that weird Atari "achievement" patches, they would not think it's the same thing because it's not. Once again, it's like saying the home computer isn't innovative cause we had typewriters.

Before the Xbox 360, there was never an achievement system integral to the system. What you guys were mentioning was even a third party thing anyway!

The patches and achievments have the same goal: to reward gamers for making certain accomplishments when playing a game. Heck, the patches are actually of value while achievements are, well, just there...
