Actually, the X68000 had hard drives, the "super" version had two of them, too.

Well it isn't a console anyway.

The X68000 was marketed here in Japan as a games system, and the system that came before it, the Sharp X1 twin, as seen below, even has a card slot for hudson/pc engine games, and used a tape based hard drive, a game switch and controller ports right on the front.
