I would say I like achievements. I'm no trophy hunter, not at all. But sometimes it just feels good to stumble upon a trophy not many players get for example. Sometimes, when I really love a game I even collect all trophies and really enjoy it. Dragon's Dogma or Transistor were such games, where it just felt great to show some extra 'love' to your favourite games, by collecting everything.
Sometimes, when playing on my 3DS I miss such things, but it's also okay without them. Let's put it that way: it's not necessary, but it's nice to have them sometimes.
