Just a suggestion, but my grandmother told me this when I was little and it works sometimes. She told when you're falling to start flying. It's odd but it worked for me and it works for other people.
I found out (much later) it was a type of "lucid dreaming"; many times when I was dreaming of falling I would consciously start flying without waking up. Then I would land and stop being in control of the dream. I stopped having dreams of falling (or remembering them) just when my flying started to reach a very skillful level.
