We're not likely going to see a PS4 slim this year. However, the recent mass production of these 8-gigabit (or 1 GB) GDDR5 chips will lead to an internal revision. The PS4 will still look the same, but instead of having 16 4-gigabit (or 512 MB) chips, the motherboard will have 8 of the new ones.
This along with possibly a cheaper cooling system can make way towards a $100 pricecut with the hardware still being sold with a profit or at worst, a negligable loss.
