You have a little advantage with the Ikaruga as when there are screen transitions, you are positioned better to start combos. Take the second level for example, right after you see the Ikaruga fighter boost in the air and enter the base, you can simply go down with the control stick and start chaining the dark (or white) enemies (you'll pass between them). I'd like to see you try with the Ginkei...!
In terms of firepower or speed, nah, there's no difference. I still think the Ginkei looks cool though! :)

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...
