so i'm kind of tired of hearing there are no good third-party wii u games, when in fact there are... tho not, admittedly, in the numbers anyone would like. but the same criticisms were made about the n64, which had lackluster third-party support but a vibrant second-party slate of releases (back when the label "rareware" was worth something)... i think wii u will end up being like the n64 in that regard: a lot of stuff not playable elsewhere with great second party support and a few third-party gems (aside from the yearly lego and just dance titles).

so, in the interest of dispelling this narrative, i thought i would make a thread asking what you think are the best third party titles (exclusive or not) on the wii u, as well as what the best second-party titles are... here are some of mine (with my personal favorite in bold):

third-party:

rayman legends (designed for gamepad, definitive edition)

monster hunter 3 ultimate (some of the best online on a nintendo system)

scribblenauts unlimited/scribblenauts unmasked (nintendo exclusive, great for gamepad)

deus ex: human revolution (just a good title overall, tho not as good as its cult-classic predecessor)

zombiu (inventive gameplay, great use of gamepad)

second-party:

wonderful 101 (great use of gamepad, possibly the most unique game so far of this console generation)

bayonetta/bayonetta 2 (two of the best action games ever, the former being technically the definitive edition of the original)

hyrule warriors (repetitive but addictive, like the best beat-em-ups)

(coming soon)

devil's third

project treasure

the inevitable zelda musou follow-up (it's poised to outperform every musou title in recent memory)
