Someone is primed to do it. I think 2008 went down the way it did mostly because the media legitimately fell in love with Obama, but also because the media  hates inevitability and loves a horse race. Even if it's looking like a blow out they'll instincitvely try to make it more competitive than it actually is and that would give someone like Warren more of a chance, since a lot of people who wouldn't otherwise "waste their vote" on her (stupid line of thinking, IMO) might then give her a second glance.

I agree with pretty much everything you said... it is just that all the democrats that are looking to run right now... I don't think any of them are really viable media alternatives...  I don't think any of them really have the ability to shmooze the media... Warren could, but she keeps saying she isn't going to run...
