They'll peak earlier. What they'll peak at remains to be seen. But with the Japanese market pretty much dead(Not sure if DQPS4 and FF will revive PS4) and noone filling in for the huge gap the Wii left, I doubt this gen will reach close to the sales of last gen, which took a while to hit their stride as well. This gen wont go on as long either I think.
PS4 is doing well right now, but honestly I'm not sure how much of that is attributed to Wii U flopping miserably, Xbox One fumbling out the gate, last gen going on abnormally long and people craved for a new gen, or it just being better overall which contributed to its success.
We'll see if it can maintain that momentum and expand its audience and sales in the coming years.
