How did Sony turn the PS3 around but Nintendo couldn't do the same with Wii U?

it could be more like 3DS, but wii U needed a 30% price cut like 3DS.
But is too late.
If they sold wii U for 200$ in the 2013 holidays, i think it could realy have turned arround.
but wii U is expnsive to produce, so there is no way.
