My top 3 are easy choices, as they've pretty much stayed with me all these years:
1. SMB3
2. Mega Man 2
3. Kirby's Adventure
And if I weren't keeping to just 3, but instead doing a Top Ten, I'd likely include:
4. Final Fantasy II (IV), original SNES version
5. Super Castlevania IV
6. Super Metroid (Metroid III)
7. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
8. Actraiser
9. Pikmin/Pikmin 2 (I like them both almost equally, I originally leaned more to 1, but now am leaning to 2)
10. Street Fighter II (fav. fighting game of all time)
Others would include: Mighty Final Fight, Double Dragon II, Star Fox 64, Star Tropics, Final Fantasy VI, Twilight Princess, Mario Kart 64, Symphony of the Night, Adventure Island II, Goldeneye (for multiplayer), Eternal Darkness, Killer Instinct II, Aero Fighters II, Samurai Shodown II, Breath of Fire, Mega Man V (on Game Boy), Smash Bros. Brawl, Zelda II, Bust a Move (Puzzle Bobble), etc. etc.
