On the topic, one of the best selling games ever is ugly as hell Dragon Quest VII. While it is not my favorite DQ it has a lot of strong points. Resident Evil 4 is a masterpiece in gameplay and graphics. FF VIII plays like shit and has one of the most corny stories ever. The graphics are shiny and sexy though.
