Doesn't give it any more widespread recognition. That's like saying Nathan Drake is more recognizable than Link because his games sell better, but in this case people do use common sense for whatever reason.

Most people who say they use common sense, don't actually. There are studies on this. Same thing with people refering to themselves as not racist for example. So no it doesn't work that way.
