Self-explanatory. Will the 3DS remake of Majora's Mask outsell the original 64 version?

Majora's Mask for the N64, according to VGchartz, sold a total of 3.36m units worldwide. For the sake of comparison, Ocarina of Time on the N64 sold 7.6m units (the most of any Zelda game) and Ocarina of Time 3D, which came out a few months after the 3DS launched, sold 3.56m. Although it is worth noting that OoT3D saw a pretty limited shelf life for a Nintendo game.

I personally think it will. The 3DS' install base is much larger now than it was in 2011 when OoT3D launched, and it's certainly higher than the N64's install base. It wil have a lot of hype behind it and Nintendo has said that the changes will be more substantial than any other Zelda remake, so that will give people more incentive to purchase it.

Edit: ALSO, as Hiku pointed out to me, the original game on the N64 required the expansion pack to even play it. The expansion pack, which cost $50 on its own, with almost no other games requiring it. So that means for most people that bought the game, they had to spend a total of $110 ($50 expansion + $60 game), which likely brought its sales down. Fast forward to 2015, and MM3D will not have such an issue. It will be just be $40. This should encourage more people who never got a chance to play the game due to its high price, to try it now. Especially since it's upgraded.

What do you think?
