I do like more about the "SNES-style" RPG:s, and the only reason i mentioned the whole thing was to point out that the "killer RPG-lineup" depends a lot from the person judging the lineup. Besides, usually when asked, SNES RPG-lineup is considered the best ever, and the reason for this is pretty clear, since at that time RPG:s used to be gameplay driven. |
oh nonsense
'cause
1. If I say the PSX has got a killer RPG line-up,
does that also mean that I say the SNES doesn't have a killer RPG line-up?
no,
I was talking about the PSX
2. you say ''SNES RPG-lineup is considered the best ever''..
by who? by your friends, or by all those wise ign and gamespot editers? or by Famistu en Dengeki, or by the developers and publishers?
There is no consensus about that. Look at Famistu's all time top 100.
3. then you say even the most strange thing
''the reason for this is pretty clear, since at that time RPG:s used to be gameplay driven.''
hold up
here you're making a mistake many people make
they think that because other factors came in to a game
that means that the gameplay must suffer
but that's not true
true gameplay and great grafix CAN coexist
besides
a rpg is also about telling a story
and no SNES rpg does even come close to Xenogears,
and didn't the cinematics in FFVII actually have a possitive effect on the experience
the grafix and artdesign of Midgar for instance or the world map
or the Gold Saucer, or the face of Sephiroth turning into the flames, and the death of Aeris,
or would the game be better if it had SNES grafix?
you really sound like a conservative who doesn´t want to see that design and grafix can help a game
and don´t mean that the gameplay will be lost or suffer
on the contrary
grafix where already important for Square on the SNES
just look at Chrono Trigger
Square really did their best there on the design
but that´s no problem for you
but in the case of FFVII it all of a sudden is
''Hadouken!''
