Well it does have more marketing and exposure than any other video game series. It has its own tv show, toys, card games, movies, and more. It also has a whole company dedicated to the IP's success. With all of those advantages, it's kind of expected for Pokemon to sell a lot. Its too bad Nintendo doesn't treat its other gaming IPs like Pokemon to generate more revenue that could be used in video games.
