well you have to consider the fact that microsoft has huge factions within the corporation that want to ditch xbox or keep it. phil spencer did a great job increasing the sales of the x1 this last holiday season, but there are still going to be many people who want to get rid of it all together and cut their losses with it. microsoft as a corporation is hugely divided over that division of their company. that really isnt a good sign in terms of the longevity of xbox consoles being made. also, sony has whittled down their company and relies more heavily on video games than ever before. so i can see why people would choose sony over microsoft.
