Well they aren't really done with the generation yet, fact is that they released a mainline Pokemon title every year since 2012 (if one of them is a remake really doesn't matter all that much, since people buy them just as much as the new games anyway) and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised, if there's one in 2015 as well. And you can also count the spin off Pokemon games, which there's always plenty off and which sometimes take the most ridiculous shapes, all just to make a quick buck of the Pokemon IP. It's extremely difficult to make a case denying that Nintendo is massively flooding the market and milking the Pokemon IP. |
hmm.. im not discounting remakes, they do bring in revenue just as a new one does and i think that a remake of 10 year old title to accompany the new one is a welcome tradition. what is not a welcome tradition is the new titles that come out every year (white/black, black2/white2). i can say with 99% certainty that a new pokemon will not come out this year (well i guess i could see maybe a pokemon Z?). pokemon is a convoluted mess, but what you essentially have is two games. one is original and the other is a remake. i can see how someone could have a problem with how they split up those two games into five. people draw their lines in different places. i draw mine exactly there. if it goes beyond those five games, thats where i have a problem with what theyre doing. i can see how its annoying, and like i said, that is the nay-sayer's best example. nintendo really isnt guilty of it in any other franchise that i can think of.
