Gas is 1.89 in my area, what are the ripple effects of this era of cheap gas in America?

Looks like the black gentleman Obama isn't doing too bad nowadays. I know he was blamed relentlessly in america for the high gas prices so hopefully he gets some form of credit for those conservative "critics" for the low gas prices.
