The problem with the OP is that he is asking what it takes to run games on Ultra, 60FPS, and at 1080p, yet that's RARELY what consoles are asked to do. Yes, PS4 is often hitting 1080P, but rarely at 60fps and what would be consider ULTRA. Mid or Mid-High settings maybe.
And trust me, I USED to be a PC gamer years ago (10+), and currently only play on consoles. So I'm not trying to bash consoles. I'm just saying some of these comparisons are rediculous. Convenience is key when it comes to consoles selling points (I remember having audio issues in the day when trying to play Halflife 2 for example).
The SCARY thing is that consoles are starting to become more and more like PCs in the sense of shit not working on day 1, but thats mostly due to unrealistic release schedules battling long lead/dev times. Day 1 patches etc. UGH.. but i digress. |
Yeah I agree with all of your points. Conveniene is the one argument that consoles have over PC in my opinion. I don't have any next-gen home consoles (yet, plan to get a Wii U next year and a PS4 at end of gen when it's $200.) I game mostly on my PC and 3DS.
