I've been a gamer since the NES days, loved my Sega CD/Saturn/Dreamcast, and always made a point of owning every system (this gen I only have an Xbox One and a Wii U so far). But this might be the first generation I don't feel compelled to have every console. I'm sure this has been debated ad naseum, but I don't see the point in owning both an Xbox One and PS4 this generation, and for me it really just came down to controller preference. And even still, given the lack of quality titles on the Wii U, and what the Xbox One and PS4 are offering, I really didn't feel any sort of rush to go out and get one.

As I got older, I found I shifted towards PC gaming, which has almost made console gaming obsolete for me. It seems the majoirty of console gamers have fallen in love with the PC gaming "genres" (Battlefield series, COD, Mass Effect, Dragon Age), but only with the use of a vastly inferior control method (mouse and keyboard are infinitely better for games of this type if you ask me). It got to the point where I was only plugging in my console to play Demon Souls or to watch a Blu Ray. Almost every triple-A title on the Xbox One and PS4 are available on my PC, and it many cases the series originated there as well. Madden has been ruined by EA buying the NFL licence, and games like Sunset Overdrive are getting rarer and rarer (although I did prefer playing Shadow of Mordor on my Xbox One).

So I guess to make a long, unorganized story short - the Wii U (and the 3DS) seem to be the only systems offering me a reason to step away from my PC for any length of time these days, at least to get the "console experience".

On a related note, I would love nothing more than to see Sega really devote itself to the next Nintendo home console and  recreate that unique console gaming experience this generation lacks (in my view; Wii U still has that limited number of quality titles).

Totally disagree, pc existed since ever. You could play games like ff7, ff8, metal gear solid 1 & 2 as well as various of pc exclusive who inf act chose pc as their main platform at the time. Where were you back then?

 

Seems you simple dont like where nintendo is right now, you rather just give up on console gaming alltogether to play the games you dont get on your favorite console. That makes you not a true console gamer but just a nintendo fan.

Every pc game is now only on steam almost, where is that more oldschool expierence than xb1 and ps4?
