Today I was in a heated debate with my friend about how ps3 "copied" 360 and wii thats why it is selling when walking home from school. He said things like tihs:

PS3 is copying in game music player and messaging

PS3 copied motion controls

PS3 copied the guide button

PS3 copied the sims and Mii

First off, 360 blatantly copied the wii motion controls, and they copied the HDMI port on the back of their console with the Elite. The Xbox copied dvd drive off of ps2

But my point was that every system needs to have this kind of technology to keep up and compete with other consoles. Same goes for things like cars. If Toyota was still using cars and engines from the 50's, do you think they would be as successful as they are now?

They didnt copy, they took ideas and made it into something uniqe and better. Copy is when you do the exact, same thing like photo copying a sheet of paper.

The PS3 went into developement far before the other two, and I believe the motion controls were part of the plan all along, as well as the guide button with the wireless controllers, and the idea of Home as also been around for quite awhile and is just taking Sony alot longer than expected.

360 does not have motion control as of yet and if the 360 can be accused of copying the PS2 then you'd have to put that on the Wii as well. Although the HDMI was copying the PS3, when the 360 released Microsoft said component was better and that's why they didnt want it, but I believe it was more a matter of price.
