Who says that discs/reader need to be noticeably faster or more efficient than blu ray? None of the console companies or developers have said that they are gonna to or wanted to go that route. It will evolve into a better and more efficent disc and disc reader over but I doubt that it will leap frog right into digital only. It will not go that route because the consumers don't want that. MS tried some crap that the consumers didn't want and it bite them right in the ass even when a few people were saying MS's policies were the future. |
If bluray was good enough, there would be no need to install the whole game to the hardrive on day one to do anyting. Patches is one thing, but the whole game?
No, no company has stated they want to go that route. Im just saying that there are better routes to go with next gen that could benefict them and us. Throwing money at developing new and better discs and readers are a waste when there already exisist better format like code cards and cartrideges and still be phisycal.
I kind of agree with you. It just that i belive there are much better alternatives that will make lossing the disc alone better, but keep some kind of physical format, Cartridges or code cards that resembels credit cards. Disc is what Im certain will die.
What MS tried was an ovbious anticonsumer practice that had only benefit to them and dint improve gaming or lower cost in any way. What I suspect that might happen, does have a lot of beneficts, mainly it could singnificantly lower production cost. No need for disc drives will lower cost on the hardware. Like the wii u is 50% of its volume a disc drive. For software the price of a litle cardtridege or code card are way chaper and safer to handle and still be resellable.
It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.
