Look at it like this: DC Comics and Marvel. DC came first and Marvel came along and did its own thing. Marvel has certain characters that are actually homages to DC characters (ie: Darkseid inspired Thanos, the JLA inspired Squadron Supreme, and Deathstroke inspired Deadpool).
Lately, Marvel has been killing it with their movies. Now, it seems DC is going to take a page from Marvel's playbook. DC will be doing what they've always done with their TV shows and animated movies but it will also be similar in structure to what Marvel has been doing since the first Iron Man movie. We can gripe about who copied who or we can enjoy two great franchises.
