I'm not so sure of that. The Wii's standby mode is the most idiotic, unnecessarily inefficient process they could have come up with. Rather than have it come online once every hour or so to check for updates, the bloody thing runs all the time and gives off the heat to prove it. As you can see from the above link, the Wii uses nearly as much power when it's "off" as it does when it's on! That adds up.

Unless of course you disable WiiConnect24, as I did. But I shouldn't have to. They should revamp the way standby mode works, or at the very least disable it by default.
