platformmaster918 said: pretty much unrelated but how was Battle of the Five armies? I liked Desolation better than the first hobbit but don't like the dwarf elf love story or the overuse of CGI. Is the CGI good in this one for the orcs (Smaug was fantastic so you have an idea of what I like)? |
I liked it overall, though I admit when it comes to movies, I'm easily satisfied.
I do think Desolation of Smaug is the strongest of the trilogy personally, but Battle of the Five Armies is I'd say a worthy conclusion to the whole Middle Earth saga so to say. I don't know if I'll think the same, but for now I'd both it and An Unexpected Journey on the same level, with Desolation slightly above.
I won't go in detail, but the dwarf/elf story doesn't stop and the movie is still ridden with CGI, and some things are a bit over the top. I think I see what you mean, luckily most monsters are viewed from a further distance generally so it isn't as noticable as in the other movies, but with the main orc generals you'll easily notice like in the other Hobbit films. They don't look as good as Lurtz or the other Uruk-Hai did in Lord of the Rings. Actors in make-up just beat CGI. Fight and battle scenes are generally amazing and I think I definitely got my money's worth.
