I pretty much agree with every game from 1990-2005, then from there it gets very subjective for me. 2006 should either be Twilight Princess or Wii Sports IMO. COD4 is my pick for 2007 GOTY... like it or not it definitely had the biggest impact on the industry that year, and was fresh and even innovative back then rather than the stale yearly release it is now.

2008 goes to Fallout 3 in my book. 2009 could go to either Uncharted 2 or Batman Arkham Asylum, and 2010 is a tossup between Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead Redemption. Portal 2 was a great game, but no way does it deserve top honors over Batman Arkham City, Skyrim or Uncharted 3 for 2011. Xenoblade is tough to argue for 2012, only Far Cry 3 and Borderlands 2 come close to it. And 2013 was all about GTAV and The Last Of Us... A Link Between Worlds felt more like a remix of ALTTP that relied heavily on nostalgia rather than a truly original and unique game.

2014 has been the first year since I can remember where there is no clear GOTY winner. Nothing really stood out... there were a bunch of solid titles like MK8, SSB, Bayonetta 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, Far Cry 4, etc, peppered with heavily hyped but somewhat disappointing titles like Titanfall, Watch Dogs and Destiny.
