The future is streaming so we won't need a dedicated console anymore, PS Now will be available in every device on the planet and it will be able to play PS1/2/3/4 and next generation games (and by next gen I mean the 9th generation). This will make Sony a third part developer since they will be making games for other devices! By the next generation PS consoles will be history. Face the future peasants and embrace me as your god. I'm not a PC fanboy, but desktops are the future. It's more than obvious. And if Sony went 3rd party, that would seal it. Especially seeing as MS own one of the 2 most popular consoles. It would make sense for them too.
