Very strange with the thoughts on abortion, while it's true that if the father wants to have the kid and the mom doesn't there is nothing in the law to stop her from just going and getting it terminated, if it was the other way around and the dad wanted the kid aborted against the mothers wises there would be outrage.

The argument isn't (or, hopefully not), that men should be allowed to force women into abortions, that's barbaric. But if women are allowed to absolve themselves from legal responsibility, then men should be able to, too (ie, not be considered the "father" anymore).

If that was the case a lot of men would absolve themselves. Last time I checked, men aren't the ones who have to go to the hospital, men aren't the ones that have to stop working and men aren't the one whos dietary requirements went up. I would be curious for you to come up with a law that would protect everyone in this situation in every possible manner.  You are already absolved of so much already. If you really want men to be able to walk away if they so desire then come up with a way that men can get pregnant instead. By the way women don't just absolve themselves from legal responsibility,  they absolve all those involved whether it be by abortion or adoption, men don't have to continually support those children.

I am not quite sure I understand your argument. The cost of going through with the pregnancy are high and if the man wants to be a part of the childs life should share the burden of these cost centainly. But I believe the comment you were responding to was referring to the father choosing to not be a part of the childs life by making it clear when an abortion can occur. In that event the father should be responsible for part of the cost of an abortion but not forced into an eighteen year commitment to have a child for a night of sex.

Also giving men the ability to become pregnant would not solve the problem without chaing the law, as their would now be women forced into eighteen year commitments to children they did not wish to have.

And while women also absolve men of responsibility with an abortion that may not have been their desired choice as they may have been willing to care for the child.
