the problem is not the price, is the value of the system.
do you remenber what happened with ps3 and 360?
while microsoft only has third party games, ps3 had third party games as 360, more exclusive third party games and more first party games like: god of war ascension, sly 4, the last of us, puppeteer, beyond two souls, rain, etc...
when you buy a playstation, you spend your money thinking in the future. xbox console is buy a system with closed eyes.
