I used emulators for my ps2 games too when i handt a ps2 anymore. The games run very horrible with glitches or cutscenes not working, cant recomend it to any one, every console using 3d runs very bad on pc. 2d consoles and 2d aracade run okay.

Is your PC powerful enough? I've recently played KH 1, FF12, ICO (with some minor lag and a glitches at the start of the game), and Shadows of the Collosus at fullspeed 1080p 4-8x AA. I also have tested DQVIII, Rogue Galaxy, and Ratchet and Clank (the first one) they ran well, but haven't played all the way through. Emulation is never perfect, but I'd definitely recommend PS2 emulation to people who don't want to rebuy their games, but wouldn't mind rendering them at 1080p with better effects, assuming they have a good enough PC for it.

My pc runs fine, well ico didnt start at all for me. Shadow of the collossus was fine but the ps3 version runs at 30 frames without any drop so i dont see the point why i should prefer pc emulation. Games like devil may cry 1 had the cutscenes being stuck and at the end the timestop item and its effect makes the entire screen gray when used.

Its stuff like that is why i dont like emulation, you never know if there some item or some thing that isnt running like it is supposed to be because the originaal hardware rendered it differently and other things. The ps3 hd version of devil may cry 1 runs better but the ending where you see see the cathetral ground is also rendered wrong, it doesnt show reflection if remember correctly. Some hd collections run fine or even better like shadow of the collossus but some are horible or have issues like devil may cry or the silent hill hd collection.

In the end i just bought a ps2, its not that expensive with component cables and neither is the game devil may cry 1.

I mean, emulation requires a lot of raw CPU power, because multiple threads aren't used very often - two at most. I'd say 3.5 Ghz (Intel) 4.0 Ghz (AMD) are a requirement for most emulators to run in HD at full speed. My laptop has a quad-core i5 clocked at 2.8 Ghz and with a decent enough GPU and it can't touch PS2 games at any resolution above native (although plays them fine at 480p, some games at 720p.) Meanwhile my desktop has a 4.5 GHZ dual core, and can play all games I've tried at full speed almost all of the time at 1080p 4xSSAA. You also have to mess with settings. The only game I've had problems with was ICO, but even then it was very much playable. Not all PS2 games have HD collections, and I would play on my PS2, but it just seems much better to get rid of jaggies if you are playing on an HDTV and you have the CPU requirements.
