obviously timeline wasnt in considered until some time ago, eventhough the timeline explanation makes some kind of sense there are some flaws, for example wind waker. In the windwakr just before you embark on the quest to collect the triforce of courage pieces, the king of red lions tells you that once the heroe of time defeated ganon he went on a journey that separated him from the land of hyrule(majoras mask?) the triforce was split into 8 shards and hidden throughout the land(does this sound familiar?, dragon ball?), obviously is making reference to majoras mask
so here is the catch, how can wind waker be connected to majoras mask if wind waker is said to be the continuation of the adult link timeline and not the child one?

so yea, the official timeline doesnt explain this at all and only contradicts itself, so obviously no timeline was really thought from the very beggining, they just adjusted the events as they saw them fit
