Except it's not free stuff, you need to buy games first. Marketing 101: companies lure you with seemingly sweet deals, but in the end the company ends up profiting more then they would have without the deals.

Yes you do... No one ever bought a game based on club Nintendo awards... People buy the games soo that they can play the games

That's kind of the problem though, isn't it? 

Why is Nintendo wasting money on Club Nintendo when they could create a program that generates them more money and gives their loyal customers some extra love? Win-win situation.
