The first three Gran Turismo's at least were without peer. However, the formula is getting stale, and the series is in desperate need of innovation. Obviously, given the sales of Prologue a huge fanbase still exists, but with similar games like Project Gotham and Forza, the extensive car selection and simulation aspects that have always been associated with the series are no longer exlusive to it or quite so novel. Furthermore, it has fallen behind in some respects such as damage and exotic car options in particular. GT5 will still be a huge success for Sony nevertheless, which is somewhat baffling IMO.
