Wow, did you really just say that? You do realise that puzzles are one of the main ways to train your brain and test IQ, right? I don't see why we can't have both.

I really did just say that. The puzzles in Zelda games are rarely ever challenging enough to "test your brain." They're easy and made to trick you into thinking you've done something clever. The only ones that do and challenge you to think critically are the ones like the Water Temple, which most people hate, and which prawl through out the entire temple instead of starting and ending in one room as a way to make opening a door take longer. That destroys any possible feeling of tension, non-linearity, and intimidation that could possibly have been built in the dungeon, and is exactly why they should be in Temples completely separate from the main dungeons, or not in the games at all. But they definitely don't belong in Zelda dungeons.

Test our minds by having us work our way through complex labyrinthine dungeons with traps, secrets, and exploitable but entirely optional shortcuts that require the use of pure logic to discover. Litter that ground work with aggressive enemies throughout and a tough as nails bossfight that depends on the skill you've acquired in your stuggle, instead of an item gimmick, to overcome. That's what a Zelda dungeon should be.
