Why US=World argument might actually be legitimate

Does American culture itself have a heavy influence from European cultures? Definitely, because it's a still young culture that derived from multiple european ones.
It's not like Murica=world but like having the american pop culture overall dominating. And that means, that you can find movies, tv-shows etc. from there pretty much everywhere, but you will find much less from the most european countries altogether somewhere outside their homecountry.
Partially that might only be a language barrier.

That is exactly what taking ownership is. If you multiplied Ireland X 50 or England X 50 and compared their contribution to culture and media internationally, they would absolutely eclipse the US massively. My wife is American and once when we were joking about this, she tried naming famous Americans. 4 out of 5 of them were Canadian, Australian,British or Irish. People like Mel Gibson, Micheal Buble, Liam Neeson (who she said had a terrible fake Irish accent in movies haha), even Ed Sheeran. As a matter of fact, the other English speaking countries combined with a lesser population than the US, have more famous people, even in the US, than their are famous Americans.

 

Hollywood is an amazing thing though. Because once someone is associated with it, they are thought to be from their. And FYI, even your comment on Doc McStuffins, it IS offensive and it IS rude. Also, saying things like Ireland only has U2, when we currently have 3 or 4 people in the top 30 in the US, that's just annoying and also rude and offensive.

 

"but you will find much less from the most european countries"?? You do understand that European countries are like one state of the US in size and population and this comparison is ludicrous. A normal comparison would be comparing the EU to the USA with similar population and GDP.

Yes, europe and even EU is not one but many states, dozens of languages etc., i know that. Actualy living pretty in the middle of it. And i didn't say that all Ireland has is U2. It actually is the biggest thing that comes from the green Isle in music business.

On the other hand, can you name five internationally famous german actors or five musicians/bands? Without google of course.

I'm not pissed off. But Germany has many talented famous people in areas that don't require language, so that brings us back to the language again.
